Trouble hand: King-Queen (both suited and unsuited)

Problem:
You were not winning as much as you should be with King-Queen (both suited and unsuited) (KQ), when we compared your win rate with the win rates of other APT users.

Description:
King-Queen looks powerful, but especially when unsuited, it is a major underdog to most other premium hands. It should be played with vigilance. Some players fold it from UTG.

Cost:
$5.00 per hour in a $2/$5 No-Limit game

Recommendation:
Play 50 hands only being dealt King-Queen (both suited and unsuited). KQs is a stronger hand and can be played more aggressively pre-flop. However, beware of situations where you might be dominated by AK or AQ.

Limp-Calling Pre-Flop Raises

Problem:
You are limping, then calling too many pre-flop raises

Description:
There are hands that are worth playing in an unraised pot (limping), but some of these should be discarded if a raise occurs after you. It is sometimes better to abandon the chips you have already paid, and fold, rather than play a speculative hand out of position.

Cost:
$6.00 per hour in a $2/$5 No-Limit game

Recommendation:
Play 50 hands and practice being dealt playable hands from early position. Your advisor can help you determine which are calling hand that should be discarded to a raise after you.

Not Ahead Enough Going to Turn

Problem:
You had an inferior hand too many times when going to the turn

Description:
When the action ended on the flop, and you continued to the turn, we kept track of how often you were ahead, adjusted for outs. You were behind too often, indicating that you are going too far with hands when you are beat.

Cost:
$3.75 per hour in a $2/$5 No-Limit game

Recommendation:
Play 50 hands and practice being dealt medium pocket pairs. When you miss the flop, it is often time to get out, especially in a multi-way pot. Otherwise, what will you do when you face another bet on the turn?

Trouble Position: The Blinds

Problem:
You were not winning as much as you should be from The Blinds (SB,BB), when we compared your win rate with the win rates of other APT users.

Description:
The blinds are clearly the toughest positions at the table. Not only are you required to post before seeing your cards, but you also play the entire hand out of position.

Cost:
$2.00 per hour in a $2/$5 No-Limit game

Recommendation:
Play 100 hands from the Small Blind position. When dealt a garbage hand, it's important not to be swayed by the fact that you've already paid some money.

Trouble hand: Marginal Suited Hands

Problem:
You were not winning as much as you should be with Marginal Suited Hands (KJs-K9s,QTs,Q9s,J9s,J8s,T8s,97s), when we compared your win rate with the win rates of other APT users.

Description:
These marginal suited hands with at least one 'gap' have a decreased possibility of making a straight. However, when you do make a straight, it is often better concealed, and can win a big pot.

Cost:
$1.00 per hour in a $2/$5 No-Limit game

Recommendation:
Play 50 hands only being dealt Marginal Suited Hands. Generally, you should be playing them from late position in multi-way pots, or occasionally opening for a raise.
