Why is a 1/2 pot raise not always equal to half a full pot raise?

Pressing the button for a half pot raise doesn't always use an amount that is 50% of the full pot raise (similar for 3/4 or 1/3).

Why wouldn't a half pot raise = 50% X full pot raise button?
