nytiderAm I missing something about the starting hand chart? It looks like JJ is a "play from any position" hand. I certainly think a raise to 3x from the cutoff is reasonable, as did the advisor. On the call of the 3-bet, you're getting good odds on the call and have decent equity, even three-handed. And the advisor says call. My only real concern is that the raiser has position.
The advisor agreed with your play on the flop, but I am not usually a fan of the donk bet. I'd probably tend to check to the last aggressor and keep my powder dry until I see what he does, and what the small blind does. Depending on how the button played it when you checked to him, and what the small blind did, you could have saved money by folding there. But it feels too tight to me for you to have folded before then.

If I had followed the recommendation in the Starting Hand Charts, I could've escaped this hand with minimal loss.

I am inclined to agree with your play on the flop. You have a reasonably strong hand on this board, but vulnerable to future cards. You're doing great against over cards, but you're in big trouble against larger PP. Villain has a good mix of both in his range. By betting the flop, you gain information. If you check, Villain can be value betting, bluffing or whatever. You'll have no idea. You aren't getting a guarantee of no bluffs by betting, but you reduce their number a lot. If you get raised, you're probably no good and fold.
