Hand Review #1

edited February 2020 in Steamin' Steve's Hand Review

Hope you enjoy my first Hand Review video! In this episode I review a hand submitted by user Atlan (Larry), who has Ace-Ten suited from the button against a open-raiser in the cut-off.

At the end of the video, there are instructions on how to submit your own hand for review.

Please bear with me - I'm still new to "live" video recording like this, and I think each one will get better and better. You comments and feedback are welcome!

    Very nice. Great, useful content.

I actually find that particular bot to be difficult to play against, for some unknown reason.

    Thank you for the analysis.

Perfect analysis. That flop check by villain was very tricky. I agree river is a fold. If it's 50% pot instead of 82% pot size bet though, I am sigh-calling it. Ideal situation is Villain checks river to us and we check it back with our decent showdown value.

That was a great analysis that adds a lot of value to this site. I hope to see many more of these!

Very usefull indeed. I still wonder how you can make such an analysis with real people on the table waiting for you to act. Practice I guess. Still a long way to go.

Yes, daily practice is the key. Working through a few hands a day in exhaustive detail. "Here is every hand my opponent could be holding at this point"...and write out a list.

Like the feature. Helps students develop in session and post session analysis skills.
    Disagree with analysis.
" how do i lose less?"
With a 25% range, a 3bet is in order. Little concern about a 4bet here.
3bet to 45-50. If villan is a little aware, QJo is not a call OOP against a 3bet. (Not saying she is) Also not being results oriented. Most of her range can't call a 3bet oop.
Villan correctly folds. Hero wins $22 pot.
If Villan very unlikely 4bets, hero can fold. Losing $45-50 is better than losing $137 as hero did as played.
Calling does not force villan to identify her hand. J8s KJs is possible. I was thinking Qx for villan on river. Both flushes missed but still lots of 2pr combos in range as well.
As played river is an annoying fold.
Steve said he was unconcerned about blinds calling. I am because it reduces my equity in the hand. Bb should have called getting 3.7 direct plus some potential for implied odds.
    3bet likely isolates cutoff villan.
