Some functions that have REALLY helped me with the Advisers. (I am playing a ton of Ring games/Cash)
Have the function "ON" that they only offer assistance when I am doing something different! This is really helping me with stopping and thinking about my decisions and breaking me of potential bad habits. As I get better I notice that the Adviser is not stopping me so much. Also, this is hugely helpful with becoming more position aware with marginal hands.
Have the function checked to show ALL ADVISER advice. There are times that I disagree with my Adviser and like to see how many other Advisers agree with my stance.
I am overly aggro and have been benefiting from using Petri Hautala as my Bot Coach. Sure, I find him to be too tight at times BUT he seriously is helping me with questioning my Aggression which tends to be excessive. For times that I want to do the opposite of what he is suggesting I check with the other Advisers and see if anyone is in agreement. (as stated above)
Trying out different Advisers to see where I can get the most benefit. Well, if you are very passive then maybe you should be using an adviser that is very aggro and vice versa.
TAGGING sessions where what you did differed from Bot advice. Noting the hand, reasoning, did other advisers concur?
PEEKING at Cards. There is so much to be learned about ranges at the END of the hand with this feature.
A big adjustment that I made was not skipping to the next hand when I folded. REALLY important for me. See how the Bots play out the hands. Learn their play styles. Observe.
My Goals are to train up through KGB. Once I win that level I will then start playing live and online and grind a bankroll(and of course continue learning). Oh, I also do not proceed to the next level until I think the BB/100 is acceptable. There is one exception to this rule and that was when I was is in Sahara and had some really tilty moments. This really messed with my stats so I kept playing until I got out of a loss. This also offered me the discipline of ending Sessions when Tilt reared its ugly head.
Also, do your Training Plan homework and take the IQ with a grain of Salt. Until recently I was pretty much bouncing in between highly skilled and functioning idiot.
When Johnny Chan was learning Poker he would manage his bankroll by leaving at 2x buy in at profit or 50% loss (ie: $200 buy in...leave @ $400 or $100)(this advice was lifted from Cards Chat Forum). That is how I end my Sessions for now.
Don't neglect to replay those hands where you lost the most amount of money. Its very encouraging to see yourself losing less and less during those negative sessions. Even if it is a Winning Session, go through where you lost the most. AND Tag those Sessions where you made a GREAT FOLD too. I posted one here at the Forum because it was actually one of my proudest moments even with the advisers telling me to bet the farm.
I also like to NOT SAVE THE STATS/SESSION when I am trying out exercises like playing every hand on the Button or trying different tactics out of position. Its so valuable to be able to design your own Session and practice, practice, practice at different Table positions.
Thanks APT and all the great Forum members,
Cheers,
