I can't seem to improve

What am I doing wrong? I follow my training instructions, and I utilize the experts (usually Tom Braband plus the 28 others). And BTW, the "expert" advice often causes me to lose chips. But back to my problem: No matter what I do, I can't seem to improve. My fav statistic is the IQ, where I'm told how many people I am playing better than. But usually my results are dismal. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. LOVE the site nonetheless, an amazing piece of work. Eugene

Hi @eugenio, sometimes it just takes time. Poker is a lot about feel and recognizing situations and odds. Here's a couple suggestions that might help, just for changing things up a bit.

    • try using the brain button instead of just looking at the advice and using it. The advice isn't meant to be used as something you take. When you do that, your training plan is based on what the advisor said to do instead of what you would do.

    • use some of the other tools on the site, like the What's the Nuts game and The Upper Hand game. Those will both help you learn the odds, which is a big part of poker.

    • Make sure you are doing the Beat the Pro Challenges for the games you are trying to improve in, whether it is cash games or tourneys.

    • If you are training for tourneys, watch the hand reviews from Scott Blumstein and Qui Nguyen. Just getting into the heads of champions can help sometimes.

    • Take a look at your reports->performance->hands and see which hands you are underperforming on. Try either 1) practicing those hands more if they are clearly playable hands, 2) stop playing them for now if they are marginal hands.

Good luck - if you practice enough you'll start to learn the odds, which hands you are profitable with, and you will improve.
