This week the WSOP organizing body finally released the schedule for the 2025 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The 2025 WSOP will run from May 27th to July 16th and will include a full 100 bracelet events (one more than last year). For the fourth year in a row the series will be split between the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
2025 WSOP Schedule
The 2025 WSOP begins with a “Mystery Millions” event. This event is in the style of the popular Mystery Bounty events. It will have five Day 1 Flights, a top bounty of $1 Million, and a guaranteed 1st place prize of “at least” $1 Million. What a great way to kick off the action!
The 2024 Main Event again broke records, with the largest pool in WSOP history, drawing 10,112 players. This year the WSOP is hoping for even more players and is staging numerous live and online satellites. The Main Event will include four starting flights and will run from July 2nd to 16th.
Pretty much as soon as the Main Event schedule was released, everyone’s favorite Poker Brat, Phil Hellmuth announced that he would not be participating this year for the first time since 1988. Hellmuth claims that at 60 years old, he no longer has the stamina for such a grueling event. He says that the schedule of 12 hour days for a week is best suited for younger players. Hellmuth calls for the WSOP to build a kinder schedule for its flagship event. Personally, I find it hard to believe that when the cards go into the air in July, Hellmuth won’t find it in himself to play. We shall see!
As usual, the WSOP is adding some new events this summer. There will be a “Battle of the Ages” event on June 22nd in which players aged 50 and over will compete in flight Day 1A, while participants aged under 50 will sit down on Day 1B, with the surviving players combining to fight for the bracelet on Day 2. Mixed game players will get to enjoy the new TORSE event. Swapping out the “H” for a “T”, takes the traditional H.O.R.S.E. structure and replaces Hold’em with Limit 2-7 Triple Draw.
Of course, player favorites will also return. The Seniors Tournament starts on June 16th. Last year’s PLO Double Board Bomb Pot makes a return on June 6th. There will be multiple Mystery Bounty tournaments, including a PLO Mystery Bounty. There will also be a number of low buy-in huge field tourneys. The Gladiators of Poker event offers a WSOP bracelet for the low, low buy in of only $300.
